Responsibilities, Expectations, and Duties:
 Apply field techniques related to boundary retracement, design support, and
construction surveying support
 Able to manage multiple projects and staff
 Responsible for retracing and creating property boundaries for roads,
pipelines, facility sites, and other rights-of-way and easements
 Collects information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps,
previous survey data, photographs, computer records, recorded documents,
and other relevant information
 Compiles survey computations with applicable standards to determine the
adequacy of data
 Compiles information necessary to stake projects for construction, using design
plans
 Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
 Considerable knowledge in property/ownership/documentation research,
boundary law, writing legal descriptions, and preparing boundary surveys,
plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, terrestrial topographic maps, construction staking,
and roadway right-of-way projects
 Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, MS Office.
OPUS Projects and Microstation experience are a plus

 Working knowledge of collecting, controlling, and processing LiDAR data from
both static and kinematic platforms is a plus
 FAA Part 107 Certification and experience producing topographic mapping
from a UAV platform is a plus
 Fluent with Trimble equipment
 Precision and ability to perform QA/QC are critical
 Strong sense of urgency, with outstanding prioritization skills and
professionalism
 Ability to learn and develop new skill sets
 New Mexico State Professional Land Surveyor license (or capable of becoming
licensed in New Mexico within 1 year of employment) is required

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. The Registered Professional Land Surveyor will be responsible for performing daily land surveying duties, which include but are not limited to creating topographic surveys, land surveying, using total station, building surveying, and overall surveying duties.

Qualifications

  • Experience in topographic surveys, land surveying, and surveying in general

The Project Surveyor will be responsible for oversight and coordination of the Survey phase of assigned projects, working with Project Managers, Department Managers, Field Personnel, and other Ascent staff, to achieve project goals. While the role is primarily an internal facing role, communication, and coordination with clients on project scope and execution will be necessary. In addition to project duties, the Project Surveyor will support various corporate initiatives, including the creation and upkeep of survey process, mentorship of junior survey staff, and be responsible for ensuring project data is processed, formatted, and stored per corporate data
standards.

This role will have an expert understanding of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and is expected to work in concert with other licensed professionals and provide an expert level of assistance on project needs. The Project Surveyor is an employee with organizational and management skills, as well as expert technical
skills. This employee will be well versed in Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil3D, and ESRI ArcGIS. The Project Surveyor must be well versed in field procedures, as they will help oversee all incoming field work,
checking for completeness, accuracy, and quality.

Expected results in the role:
 Plats and drawings are thoroughly QA/QC before they are certified and delivered to clients.
 Ensure field packs are accurate, correct, and complete.
 Ensure field data is complete, accurate, and processed correctly.
 Ensure Ascent best practices are followed to get data onto ADM and SDE.
 Ensure projects are completed on-time and under budget.
 Pursue additional licensure to assist Ascent expanding our geographic reach and help provide
redundancy in existing states.
 Be willing to assist the team in any way possible to meet project deadlines.

 Expert Level QA/QC on documents going through certification.
 Expert review of all post-processed field data.
 Perform PLSS Section Breakdown.

Required Education and Experience:
 Four-year college degree in an appropriate field that allows for Survey Licensure.
 Must be licensed, and in good standing, in the State of Colorado and preferably New Mexico.
 5+ years of progressive surveying experience.
 Meets requirements for multi-state licensure.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
 May be responsible for allocating resources to ensure project schedules are met.
 Will be in responsible charge of Ascent's data processing for assigned projects.
 Will attend internal meetings with Project Teams, Project Manager, Department Managers, and Executives.

Other Need-to-know items:
 Working remote is acceptable for this position
 You are expected to answer calls and emails in a timely manner
 At times, project communications may be required on nights and weekends
 Domestic travel for client meetings, conferences, team events, and other business development activities
may be required up to 25% of the time spent in this role, and travel can range from a few days to a week

  • Support and manage survey staff of 5 senior Survey Party Chiefs with chain/rod men assistants
